❤️
Going on holiday is one of the things I look forward to the most. I love that feeling of knowing I’m escaping everyday life for a little while, especially when I know Tenerife is waiting for me at the other end. ☀️🌴
But before I can enjoy all of that, I have to get through the airport.
And for me, the airport can be one of the hardest parts of travelling.
Liverpool Airport is definitely my favourite.
There’s something about Liverpool that makes me feel more comfortable. It’s smaller, it feels familiar and I don’t feel quite as lost in everything happening around me.
I can still get nervous. I’ll check my passport more times than I need to, worry about my suitcase and think about whether I’ve remembered everything. That’s just part of travelling for me!
But at Liverpool, those feelings don’t seem quite as big.
I feel like I can breathe.
Manchester Airport is completely different for me.
It’s so much bigger and busier. There are people everywhere, lots of noise, signs, queues, suitcases and things happening all at once.
Sometimes people probably just see me walking through an airport and think I’m fine. What they don’t see is everything that’s going on inside my head.
I’m trying to work out where I’m going.
I’m worrying about being late.
I’m making sure I’ve got everything.
I’m trying not to become overwhelmed.
And I’m also trying to remember that I’m supposed to be excited because I’m going on holiday.
That’s why Manchester can feel stressful for me. It’s not because it’s a bad airport. It’s simply that bigger and busier environments can take a lot more out of me.
By the time I’ve checked my suitcase in, made it through security and finally found somewhere to sit, there’s a huge feeling of relief.
That’s normally the moment when I can finally say to myself:
“I’ve done it. Now my holiday can begin.”
Then the nerves slowly turn into excitement.
I start thinking about getting on the plane, arriving somewhere warm, seeing Tenerife again, enjoying the food and cocktails, seeing familiar faces and making more memories. 🌴🍹❤️
That’s why Liverpool will always win for me.
It reminds me that sometimes smaller really is better.
Liverpool makes the start of my holiday feel manageable.
Manchester makes me feel like I’ve already completed an adventure before I’ve even got on the plane! 😂
But whichever airport I have to face, I know why I’m doing it.
Because on the other side of those nerves, queues and worries is something I absolutely love:
another holiday, another adventure and another collection of memories waiting to be made. ✈️☀️❤️
