Preparing my window display for my new concept

It feels really exciting to be preparing another window display and bringing a new concept to life. Visual merchandising has been such a big part of my creative journey over the years, so whenever I start planning a new display, it brings back so many memories of where everything began for me.

Right now, my head is full of ideas! Colours, props, layouts, materials and all the little details that could make the window stand out. Sometimes I have too many ideas at once and have to remind myself that I don’t need to use everything. That’s part of being creative for me — experimenting until something just feels right.

I have always loved being creative. Even before studying visual merchandising, I enjoyed making things and finding inspiration in art, exhibitions, travelling and the world around me. Studying visual merchandising helped me turn that creativity into something more and taught me how much thought actually goes into creating a window display.

For me, it isn’t simply about putting products into a window and making them look nice. I want someone walking past to stop for a second and actually look. I want the window to tell a story and make people wonder what inspired it.

Preparing this new concept also reminds me how far I’ve come. When I look back at some of my earlier projects, I can see how my ideas and confidence have developed. Not every idea has worked, and I’ve definitely had those moments where I’ve stood looking at something thinking, “Nope, that’s not working!” 😂 But those moments have taught me just as much as the successful ones.

I still get nervous when I’m working on something new because I want it to look how I’ve imagined it in my head. But alongside those nerves is excitement. There’s nothing quite like starting with an empty space, getting stuck into the creative process and slowly watching your idea become real.

That’s probably my favourite part.

This new window is another little chapter in my creative journey. I’m excited, slightly nervous and already thinking about a hundred different ideas — but that’s me!

Now it’s time to get the materials out, make a bit of creative mess and see where this new concept takes me. ❤️✨

Watch this space… the window is coming to life!
