International Women’s Day 2016 – Celebrating Women 💜

International Women’s Day, on 8 March, is a chance to celebrate women’s achievements and reflect on the importance of equal opportunities.

For me, it’s about recognising everyday achievements too. Studying, working, caring for others or finding the confidence to follow a dream all deserve recognition. Sometimes the steps that take the most courage are the ones other people never see.

As I work towards my own goals, I’m learning to appreciate what I can achieve. It isn’t always easy to believe in yourself, especially when learning brings challenges, but every step forward gives me another reason to keep going.

Today, I’m thinking about the women who encourage and support others—the friends, relatives, teachers and colleagues whose kindness can make a difference.

My hope is that every woman has the opportunity to be heard, respected and encouraged to pursue her ambitions.
