I want to progress onto the BA top up year because I feel visual merchandising particularly retail internal designs will suit me, and also the location will benefit me because it is close to family and friends and my part time job. Also, the industry is very competitive and there are large amounts of people who are trying get the same job. Therefore once I complete the BA top up, I will have more experience and a better chance of achieving my dream career.

Gaining a BA honours will be of particular significance to me, as during primary school, I had a lot of difficulty learning to read and write and fell behind in these subjects from my peers and eventually attended an SEN school. Achieving a BA Honours will show how far I have come.

I am aware that the BA top up is the last year of degree and involves a larger workload, which I feel I am ready for due to continually working towards deadlines . I am willing to take up the challenge as it will be excellent preparation for my future career. I am aware that I will have to complete a dissertation; I feel I would like to research raising awareness of equality and inclusivity in retail for this project. I am aware that this research will contribute towards my final practical work, which will be presented to a panel at end of year show and I am looking forward to this opportunity.

I feel I could bring to the BA top up year my creativity. I produce sketches to a high standard and I like experimenting with different materials. I have also developed my researching skills and my generating ideas skills. One of my research skills is exploring ideas on a mind map as I feel this helps me understand my chosen topic.

Another skill I can bring to the course is my experience in group critiques as I enjoy receiving comments from tutors and peers, which I take on board to improve my work. I am also good at giving my peers constructive feedback.

As I work Part – time, I have had to develop strategies to help with my time management, which really help me to focus on my work. I am good at working in teams as well as using my own initiative during tasks.

Overall, I am dedicated to succeed and really want the opportunity to develop my skills further to help me achieve my dream career.
