Kitsch !

I was required to produce a window display using the theme ‘Kitsch.’ Firstly, I carried out research on the high street, to discover some inspiration by seeing what was in the market for the Christmas season. Whilst carrying out the research I was gathering ideas and experimenting with paper, the examples can be found in my sketchbook. The research helped me to collect ideas that I could use for my window display. I also learnt a lot more about the brand. I discovered that Kitsch has connections with the  Liverpool and therefore I wanted to create a Liverpool theme for Utility, which is also based in Liverpool.

This then led me to use the famous lovebirds due to its connections with Liverpool. I was also required to complete the promotional card and other promotional items, which related to design window display. I decided to relate my display and promotional cards with the same Liver birds as I thought it would be good to bring Liverpool into the project, which the college was related.

I decided to bring in an image of pear to represent the Christmas song lyric ‘Partridge in a pear tree’, , I really liked my design of my card, but if did it again I would make it more fun to bring in with theme of Liverpool more.

Originally I didn’t like the theme kitsch,  at the end, I thought differently because I was very pleased with my final piece and I enjoyed the craft element of the project.

I also decided to design swing tags, a shopping bag and wrapping which need be in colour to go alongside my window display, as it was going promote the Pop Art display.
